eat & drink

From Thursday to Sunday, guests of Star and Garter’s Guesthouse and Apartments can experience the warm hospitality and classic yet elevated dishes of its handsome 19th Century pub.

Run by Katy and Angus, owners of nearby eatery Restaurant Mine, which has recently been named as one of Conde Nast’s 26 Best Cornwall Restaurants, their menu showcases a creative collection of seasonal and decadent small plates, bar snacks and tempting tipples.

The restaurant is an intimate dining room-style space which looks out onto the happy buzz of the creative Old High Street. After a day of exploring the romantic Cornish coastline, pad downstairs, open a bottle from their curated wine list and watch the vibrant town pass by the charcoal sash windows.

Natter over bar snacks, and dine on moreish small plates such as their talk-of-the-town crab fritters with bisque mayo and generous golden-yolk scotch eggs. Finish the evening with a sweet pud or a plate of Cornish cheese before slipping off to slumber in your upstairs refuge.

On Sunday the menu is tweaked to hold space for their hearty Sunday Roast which can be savoured with a glass of red or a pint of local beer.

The Star and Garter Eatery is open Thursday–Saturday from 5:30– 11pm and Sunday from 12pm–8pm
